James Garvin Barton was born June 8, 1846 in Greenville County, SC to Shapley and Elizabeth Montgomery Barton. He enlisted in Co. A of the 16th South Carolina Infantry on November 19, 1861 at the age of 15. After a year''s service he was discharged, still only 16 years old. He later rejoined Co. A of the Consolidated 16th & 24th SC Infantry Regiment and was present at the surrender of this regiment at Greensboro, NC on April 26, 1865 and was given a parole there on May 2, 1865. He died in Forsyth County, GA on October 26, 1934 at the age of 88 and is buried in the cemetery of the Friendship Baptist Church. James Garvin Barton was my great grandfather--the father of my maternal grandmother.

Benjamin F. BRIDGES died September 10, 1862, of pnuemonia in a Civil War Hospital in Adams Run, Charleston Co., SC and was buried there. There was no way to get his body back to the Powdersville, SC area. His company was stationed in Adams Run which is outside of Charleston. His company was under attack or attacking union soldiers all the months before his death. He was not buried on the peninsula of Charleston.

Thomas Ganger is my 3rd great-grandfather; he is the father of Walter Granger, whom married Rachael E. Moody. Walter and Rachael had Ola Cecil Granger, whom married Willis Russel Talley. Raliegh Warren Talley was born to Willis and Ola, whom went by Warren. He married Mary Rachael Dill, and they had my mother, Barbara Ann Talley.
Thomas Granger served 15 April 1863 - Aug 1864, and is said to be buried at Berea Baptist Church, 4.5 miles north of Greenville. I have not yet been able to confirm his burial place or the condition of his grave.

Jackson Wooten was my GG grandfather and he served from November 1861 until the surrender 1865. He was listed at hospital in July 1864 after being wounded at the battle of Atlanta. After recovery he went back to his unit. He died in 1929 and is buried at TR Methodist Church in Travelers Rest, South Carolina.
